macarthur. then two people killed on 72nd avenue and international boulevard. that is where bob redell joins us live on what has become a deadly day in oakland. bob, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, marla and jon. we spoke to a resident who said they wondered what is going on. four gun deaths within the city limits since 9:00 last night. all young men in their late teens or early 20s. two killed on 72nd avenue where we are right now. a residential street. a couple of blocks away from international boulevard. these men were in a green minivan on the street. a van that one of the passengers bought within the past day. at 6:00 as the sun was coming up this morning, someone walked up to the van and there was a confrontation. this person fired multiple shots at them killing them both here on the scene. police tell us they don't have a motive. they are still looking for that suspect. a neighbor of one of the men said the two regularly sat out in a vehicle just to talk. weren't loud. were respectful. from her point of view, seemed to stay out of trouble. >> this is the first ti

, though, bob mckey. bob, you're here with us, chief economist from independent strategy. i guess let's just begin by talking a little bit about some of these headlines that we're hearing from the imf regarding financial stability. obvious, i guess, to sort of draw attention to this issue, but in your mind, is there still lingering risk out there from the lack of reform, i guess, in some areas of the industry? >> i think what the global stability report is showing -- it's the third report the imf brings out at this semiannual meeting. everybody looks at the growth figures from the world economic outlook. this one is in many ways the most important because it tells us how far we've got out of the mess of the banking collapse, how far that's progressed. the aim of regulators is to get banks to increase their capital, reduce their leverage, and at the same time, the aim of politicians is to get banks to lend more to the real economy to corporates and households. and there's a conflict there and the imf is exposing that in this report. >> absolutely. and perhaps anywhere more than the

bay area for that all-important campaign cash. bob redell is live at san francisco international airport where in just hours from now air force one will be loaded up and taking off. bob, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, jon. the president's campaign is hoping that the moneyy he raised in the short amount of time will be enough to start beating back the bad news he's seeing in the polls after what was generally considered a poor showing during last week's debate with governor mitt romney. the president arrived yesterday afternoon. by last night he had raised almost $4 million but three different fund-raisers. the first at the intercontinental hotel. there were 25 people at that gathering paying $40,000 a plate. then mr. obama had dinner at the bill graham civic auditorium with $100 supporters paying $20,000 a plate. finally last night he had a fund-raiser with 6,000 people inside the auditorium itself. during his speech, when he spoke to these people, the president criticized governor mitt romney's performance during last week's debate. >> a few nights ago, suddenly
